After spending thirty years in the San Francisco Bay Area as a career professional, I recently moved to Kansas City last July to be closer to my Mom following my Father's passing. I was brand new to Kansas City, had just been hired for a new job, and had moved my Mom into an Assisted Living Care facility. I didn’t know anything about the neighborhoods or which areas might be a good fit for me. I knew that I wanted to be within a ten-minute driving distance from my Mom and my new job. Having rented an apartment while living in the Bay Area, I was also a first-time home-buyer and knew very little about the process of looking for a home, let alone purchasing one. Leah came prepared with a thoughtful list of homes in several different parts of the city so I could really compare options, get a feel for each area, and see how each choice would fulfill the needs of my new life. Believe it or not, the second house we toured was the one! Leah made the entire process feel easy and fun. She was incredibly personable and genuinely took the time to empathize with the life challenges I was facing. Before even searching for the home I eventually bought, she took the time to listen to my life situation to understand how to best find the home that would suit my needs. What truly sets her apart is what happened after closing. She hosted a housewarming party for me and invited all my neighbors. The invitation flier she designed, printed out, and delivered door-to-door in the middle of sweltering July heat had captions on it that read: "Meet your new cool neighbor from San Francisco" and “She knows five people,” "She's friendly and nice," among other descriptions. As a native Midwesterner, raised in the small town of Hutchinson, Kansas, Leah intuitively knew how to create an event that would break the ice for my neighbors and me and set us up from the beginning to look out for and care for one another. It was such a clever idea — and it worked! A ton of neighbors came by to introduce themselves and I've become close to quite a number of them. Now I have a great community around me, and I absolutely love, love, love my house.”
