This month, we’d like to take a little time to get to know more about the newest addition to Long Real Estate – David Barraza! If you’d like to contact David, you can always email him at [email protected] or give him a call at 913.747.5321.

Where were you born/grow up? When did you move to KC?
I was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, and I’ve pretty much grown up in KC. I’ve lived in the area for 20 years and counting.

Where did you go to school?
I went to a lot of schools actually. I attended Olathe Northwest High School and graduated from Manhattan High School in Manhattan, KS. I then played soccer at Manhattan Christian College and was duly enrolled at K-State. I then transferred to Johnson County Community College and finished out my associates before beginning my career in real estate.

What made you decide to get into real estate?
My dad is a contractor in the area and from when I was very young I saw him work with investors and flippers. After K-State/MCC and deciding architecture was not the route I wanted to go down, I felt a strong passion for real estate sales, helping people reach their goals, and eventually launching my own real estate investment properties. Those are the exact same passions that drive me today.

What do you do for fun?
I love to play soccer with friends at All American Indoor Sports, as well as working out and hanging out with friends. I have random phases where I also enjoy running outdoors.

What characteristics do you have that make you different from other real estate agents?
I think one thing that really distinguishes me from other realtors which drives many subcategories of my process is that I do my best to treat each client as if I were showing my mom homes and helping her in the process. How would I like her to be treated? What kind of precautions would I like a realtor to have with her if I were not the realtor helping her? How hard would I work to help her reach her goals?

What is something interesting about you that a lot of people don’t know?
I have rarely owned a TV and I’m a bit clueless when people talk about popular TV shows…

Favorite Movie:
The Waterboy

Favorite Restaurant in KC:
Chipotle, I eat it like 5 times a week.

Favorite TV show – past and present:
When I was really little I watched “Chuck Norris: Texas Ranger” and thought it was really cool, didn’t watch TV till Netflix came around and I watched “White Collar”, “House of Cards” and “Suits” for a few episodes each and those were cool too

If you weren’t in Real Estate, what would you do?
I’m not sure what I would be doing, maybe back in school for Architecture or something like that

If you were a professional baseball player, what would your walk-out song be?
Either “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns’n’Roses or “Superstar” by Lupe Fiasc

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
I’ve eaten fried worms, chocolate covered ants, and habanero pepper candy

If money and career were no object, where in the world would you choose to live?
I would travel the world, I think I would live somewhere new every 6 months and just take in the experiences and attractions of the particular location

How would you describe yourself as a kid?
As a kid I was very rambunctious and I think I’ve always been characterized by a deep craving to learn. The same curiosity that led me to win science fairs or academic competitions still drives me to this day.
