You may not know it, but the Kansas City metro has over 30 local farmer’s markets ranging from a few small booths to the size of the City Market with over 140 stalls. Although some open earlier, May is the opening market for most of the markets in the area. We’ve included a list of some of the area’s markets below.
Before you head to the farmer’s market, grab some reusable shopping bags, some cash and possibly a cooler if you plan on a large haul of items like fruit or cheeses. It’s a good rule of thumb to go early in the day when everything is the freshest and hasn’t been picked over. You’ll also want to make sure you take a look at all of the tables before purchasing. It’s always a bummer to buy some veggies just to see some way better looking ones at the next table over. Most importantly, have fun and use the markets as an opportunity to enjoy the season’s sights, smells, and weather! Happy shopping!
