What’s up, Kansas City! We hope you are looking forward to a relaxing, long weekend this Fourth of July. If you’re going to be in town and are looking for some fun ways to celebrate, we’ve got you covered.
Friday, July 4th
Start the day with some classic Americana at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, where the celebration includes old-fashioned fun for the whole family—think wagon rides, games, and a charming farm backdrop. For those looking for a full day of festivities, Celebration in the Park and Merriam’s Flags 4 Freedom Concert will deliver live music, patriotic spirit, and a great spot to catch fireworks later in the evening.
If you're aiming for a city-style celebration, Boom in the Bottoms offers a three-day festival experience in the Historic West Bottoms, with food, art, and entertainment. You can also take in the views from the brand-new KC Wheel, which is hosting its own July 4th weekend experience from Thursday through Sunday.
Looking for something a little different? Stop by The Great Market Carnival in Lenexa for a lively mix of vendors, performers, and family fun, or head to Red, White, Rhythm & Roots concert in De Soto for a fun, music-filled night. If shopping is how you like to celebrate a holiday, then the Red, White & Booze Sip & Shop in downtown Parkville has you covered.
And of course, no KC Fourth of July is complete without the Star Spangled Spectacular at Corporate Woods, one of the biggest and most beloved fireworks shows in the area. Add in Lenexa’s Community Days Parade and Eudora’s Star-Spangled Celebration, and you’ve got a day full of red, white, and blue energy across the metro.
Saturday, July 5th
The celebration continues with Mahaffie’s Independence Day Celebration, where you can experience a taste of 1860s-style patriotism—complete with cannon fire, historic demos, and traditional games. Or head south for the Sunflower Festival at Red Barn Ranch, where sunflowers meet small-town summer vibes in the best way.
Wherever you find yourself this weekend, we hope you have a safe and fun Fourth, Kansas City!
