𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐬 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬! 🔥 Today we’re talking about new affordable housing for Kansas City seniors, how the recent streetcar extension inspired local art institutions to get creative, and a new live music venue opening in 2026.

1️⃣ 𝐀 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐬. The site of what was once a public middle school is now an apartment building with affordable housing for seniors. Greenwood Senior Apartments, at East 27th Street and Cleveland Avenue, includes one- and two-bedroom apartments. Most of the units are geared toward residents with lower incomes, with rent payments based on income through assistance programs, and the rest are market rate.

2️⃣ 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. The recently completed streetcar extension in midtown has spurred local art institutions to take their own extra step toward connectivity! The Arterie, a new three-block walking path located near the streetcar stop at 45th and Main, brings together three major area art destinations: the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, the Kansas City Art Institute, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum.

3️⃣ 𝐀 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐊𝐂 𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐬. Morton Amphitheater, the new 16,000-seat Live Nation venue located off Horizons Parkway and Interstate 635 in Riverside, is scheduled to open in 2026 with an exciting lineup of live music. Train, Rod Stewart, and 5 Seconds of Summer will all be playing the amphitheater in August, followed by Jack Johnson on September 1st.
