What’s up, Kansas City!

We can’t believe we are heading into the last weekend before Labor Day, and it’s going to be a fun one around here. KC has no shortage of ways to fill the last of your summer evenings, and this coming weekend is a perfect example. From big-name concerts under the stars to small-town festivals and community markets, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Things kick off Thursday with a mix of music and local tradition. The Avett Brothers bring their energetic folk-rock to Azura Amphitheater, while Melissa Etheridge and the Indigo Girls light up Starlight Theatre for a night of powerhouse vocals. For something a little more laid-back, Wine Tasting on the Terrace offers a chance to enjoy good company and a beautiful view.

Meanwhile, Bonner Springs celebrates Tiblow Days, a multi-day festival filled with parades, vendors, and family fun, and Shawnee hosts its Moonlight Market, where you can shop local under the evening sky.

Friday continues the momentum with another wave of entertainment. Starlight Theatre welcomes the Goo Goo Dolls alongside Dashboard Confessional, a pairing that promises plenty of nostalgia for longtime fans. Parkville Days unfolds along the riverfront all weekend, blending carnival rides, food vendors, and live performances.

For a more modern twist, Kansas City hosts Uncruel Summer, a dance party dedicated to pop hits, while Olathe’s Fourth Fridays bring together art, music, and local flavor in a relaxed downtown setting.

Saturday keeps the spotlight on music and community. Teddy Swims takes the stage at Starlight, showcasing his blend of soul, pop, and R&B that has earned him a growing national following. For those who prefer a slower pace, KC Wine Co offers its Sip & Shop event, where visitors can browse local vendors with a glass of wine in hand—a perfect blend of shopping and leisure.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday with another highlight at Starlight as Alabama Shakes delivers their signature mix of Southern rock and soul. At the same time, pop culture fans will be flocking to Collect-a-Con at the Kansas City Convention Center, where comics, cards, anime, and collectibles take center stage.
