Getting to Know Amber Long

We’ve had quite a few exciting changes happening around here over the last few months, and one of the best parts of celebrating change is sharing it with you.

This month, we’d like to take a little time to get to know more about one of the newest members of the Long Real Estate Team– Amber Long!

Amber is our invaluable transaction coordinator, so she handles all of our contract documents and the details of every transaction with attention and care. You also may have guessed that she is Tony’s sister, which brings a whole new meaning to our team being family. Now, let the fun begin!

LRE: Where did you grow up?

AL: Born and raised in Manhattan, KS… it will forever have my heart. My family and I moved to KC for Mike’s job about 10 years ago. We knew we’d eventually move and both Mike and I have family here and a ton of friends, but this is still close enough to our hometowns so that we can easily visit anytime!

LRE: Since you’re family, we have to know – what’s your funniest memory of Tony?

AL: Tony passed out after my sister Sarah’s wedding, and he woke up still fully dressed in his tuxedo in our mom’s hotel bed! Then he had to go to breakfast with everyone still in his tux – we will never stop laughing about that one.

LRE: What does your nuclear family look like?

AL: Mike and I have been married for 13 years and we have two boys – Aiden (12), and Beau (3). People thought we were crazy having kids 10 years apart, but it’s been the best thing we’ve ever done. Although I have to say, this past year with a tween and threenager has been incredibly challenging to say the least! LOL

LRE: How did you find yourself in the real estate industry? Was it a career change?

AL: I’ve technically been in real estate the past 6 years… working at a title company that Tony introduced me too! When the opportunity arose to work with him and have more flexibility, I had to take it. Having a background in title is helpful but I still have a lot to learn about Real Estate!

LRE: What do you do for fun?

AL: Most of our weekends are spent at the baseball fields and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Our baseball team has become family and we love spending time with them. When we’re not at the fields, we’re usually splitting our time between my family and Mike’s. We love getting together for dinner, BBQing, swimming, just hanging out. We love having both our families close!

LRE: Do you have any hobbies?

AL: Beachbody is my hobby! I’m a Beachbody coach, and love helping people get started or re-commit to their fitness journey. I love my Beachbody fam and enjoy spending time with them when I can, too!

LRE: What is your greatest strength as a transaction coordinator?

AL: Probably my background in title, and just being personable! I’ve worked in some sort of customer service job my whole life, and I feel like that is a very strong quality I possess. It’s extremely important to me that our clients are well taken care of and that I make their transactions as smooth as possible for them.

LRE: What is your favorite movie?

AL: It’s a total tie between The Family Stone & The Holiday. Both are on repeat at my house the whole month of December!

LRE: Do you have a favorite restaurant in KC?

AL: Ahh, this is tough. We don’t venture out much, but any place that serves Mexican food is where I want to be! Although I did have the most amazing lobster tail of my life at Pierpont’s at Union Station – it’s a meal that I will never forget and talk about often.

LRE: What are your favorite TV shows from childhood and adulthood?

AL: Full House (kid), Laguna Beach (teenager), and Pioneer Woman (adult). The trifecta!

LRE: If you were a professional baseball player, what would your walkout song be?

AL: Astronaut in the Ocean by Masked Wolf

LRE: If you had the chance to be famous, would you take it?

AL: No way.. people are too mean, and I’m too sensitive!

LRE: What is your favorite place to travel?

AL: Anywhere with a beach!

LRE: What makes you feel like you can conquer the world?

AL: I love a good morning routine! I set my alarm for 4:30 a.m. every day so I can get up early and spend time reading a good personal development book, working out, and checking in with my fitness accountability group that I run each month. I feel like I can do anything when I do these things each morning before the day gets hectic!
