Today weโre talking about the latest developments in the Chiefs stadium switch, a new shaved iced chain coming to town, and KCโs 2026 James Beard Award nominees!
1๏ธโฃ The Chiefs have narrowed their new stadium architect search to two local firms. Manica Architecture and Populous both have deep KC roots, and both have designed NFL stadiums. Populous worked with the Chiefs to design a $1.15B renovation of Arrowhead before the teamโs decision to move to Kansas, and Manica teamed with 635 Holdings in 2024 to release conceptual renderings of a domed stadium and entertainment district in KCK.
2๏ธโฃ A Texas-based shaved ice chain just opened its first Kansas location in Overland Park. Bahama Buckโs, an island-inspired eatery, serves shaved ice, smoothies, aรงaรญ, yogurt bowls, sodas and RedBull. With more than 100 flavors, including Nerds Rainbow, Lemonberry Warhead, peach cobbler and gummy bear, thereโs sure to be a treat for every tastebud!
3๏ธโฃ Kansas City continues to be a haven for foodies with five James Beard Award nominated bars and restaurants, fetching a total of six nominations for 2026! The semi-finalists for this incredible honor are Anjin, The Town Company, Drastic Measures, Fern Bar, and Of Course. We wish the best of luck to all of these amazing chefs, mixologists, and their teams!
