Hidden Gems: Penguin Park

Penguin Park is the ultimate destination for a classic playground experience, and whether you live in the Northland or not it is worth a drive to visit!

Originally constructed in the 1960s, this park features a 23-foot-tall penguin that has become a landmark in the area. The park was created as part of Lakewood Greenway and commonly referred to as “Penguin Park,” so officials renamed it such in 1998.

A zoo’s worth of animal statues and a large variety of equipment on the spacious playground will keep your family busy for hours. Go for a ride down the kangaroo slide with your kiddos and you’ll feel like a kid again yourself! If you’re interested in hosting a cookout or birthday party here, the park also features a large shelter for rent, multiple grills, restrooms, and a water fountain.
