This is definitely only a small sampling of the things to do in Kansas City this summer, but this should get you started! Follow the links for more information on each event.

Grown Up Fun

America on Tap – Kansas City on Tap is back at the Berkely Riverfront! Saturday, May 7th from 2pm – 5pm. Sample over 100 releases from some of America’s best craft breweries. Click here for prices and more info

A few of the best patios in Kansas City – If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a meal or drink while enjoying the summer weather, here is a list of some of the best patios in KC. 

Farmer’s Markets around the city – Fresh produce and local vendors is one of our favorite things about summer and Kansas City has plenty of places to find local produce. Here is  a list of KC Farmer’s Markets.

Boulevard Brewery Tours – If you haven’t ever toured Boulevard, then it’s time you head over there and get an inside look at this KC landmark. More details here.

Helicopter Tours (April through September)- Experience Kansas City from a whole new perspective by taking a helicopter tour with River’s Edge Aviation! Pricing and info here. 

First Fridays (all summer) – On the First Friday of every month, thousands of residents and visitors fill the sidewalks of the Crossroads in Kansas City, enjoying what has become the city’s liveliest and most popular event. Arts organizations, galleries, studios, and a wide variety of local businesses feature regional and national artists as well as live entertainment starting at 5 p.m. More details.

Fun for Everyone

Maker Faire (June 25-26) – Maker Faire Kansas City is a two-day affair that celebrates local creativity and innovation. The faire brings together an impressive lineup of crafters, inventors, hackers, artists and scientists who are currently pushing the envelope with their projects. Featuring everything from homemade clothes to the newest technological developments, the event allows guests to fully explore some of the individuals at the forefront of creation. Official Site

Old Shawnee Days (June 2-5) – The family-friendly weekend event features a whole host of activities and attractions like live music and entertainment, a baking contest, a parade and carnival, a pancake breakfast, chainsaw carving demonstrations, roving performers, historical reenactors and so much more. There are also lots of fun games for the kids. Official Site

Zootastik Learning Fest: Endangered Species Day (May 14)- On Saturday, May 14, Zootastik Learning Fest is all about endangered species. We will learn about endangered species and how we can help through fun activities, demonstration and crafts. All activities, demonstrations and crafts will take place in the main lobby and are included with Zoo admission. Brain: The Inside Story – at Prairiefire (on exhibit all summer) – Interactive exhibit at the Museum at Prairiefire in conjunction with the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. More info here. 

Family Game Night (every Saturday April through June) – Join the KC Improv Company every Saturday night at 6:30 pm for their family friendly show! Family Game Night is an hour packed full of short-form “Whose Line?” style improv games. More info. 

Kids Events

Science City Summer Camps (All summer beginning June 6) – Science City Summer Camp sparks interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) learning through interactive, challenging and FUN activities! Click here to see the schedule by week and get more information.

Marble Day (May 7) – Marble Day at Moon Marble Company begins with a Tractor Cruise and Wacky parade. lots of free activities and entertainment including a marble tournament, cake walk and old fashioned games. at noon 5,000 Pinky balls race down the street as part of a fundraiser. More info. 

Lego Kids Fest (May 13-15)- In addition to the various contests and creative opportunities, life-size superheroes and characters are scattered throughout the festival to offer inspiration for pint-sized designers.
