Outdoor Adventures: Splash Parks

Even with all of the rain we’ve been getting lately, we can already tell that it’s going to be one hot (and humid) summer here in the midwest. If you’re looking for a way to cool off and switch up your usual summer outing routine, might we suggest some of the delightful splash parks located around town? All of these options across town have 4+ stars on Google, so you can’t go wrong!

Heathwood Park | Kansas City, KS

The concrete splash pad at Heathwood Park is fenced in and offers plenty of space for kids of all ages to run around and cool off – you just might want to jump on in yourself!

Dagg Park: North Kansas City, MO

Dagg Park is open every summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and its location just a few blocks away from the awesome food options at Iron District means you can make a whole summer day of this fun outing!

Loose Park | Kansas City, MO

With acres of green space and gardens all around, scenic Loose Park is the ideal spot for a cooling dash through the splash pad and a sunny picnic afterward as you dry off. While you’re there, don’t forget to take a stroll through the famous rose garden!

Thompson Park | Overland Park, KS

The splash pad at Thompson Park is one of the smaller ones in town, but its central location in downtown Overland Park has great playground equipment, shopping, and restaurants nearby for the whole family to enjoy.

Sapling Grove Park | Overland Park, KS

In addition to its spirited splash pad, 20-acre Sapling Grove Park also offers playground equipment, picnic tables, and even a reservable shelter if you want to invite the whole family out for a summer extravaganza.
