1️⃣ Kansas City’s own Donutology is opening a new location at Crown Center! Founder and owner Andrew Cameron launched Donutology in 2016, and the KC brand is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The new shop in Crown Center is expected to soft-open in late September, followed by a grand opening and 10th-anniversary celebration in mid-October. And there’s more than doughnuts: the new location plans to bring back Donutology’s doughnut milkshake, alongside made-to-order doughnuts and dirty sodas.

2️⃣ Well Read is a new independent bookstore that officially celebrated its opening on August 28th in downtown Lee’s Summit. The shop is designed as a welcoming neighborhood gathering place, with new and gently used books, gifts, games and puzzles - plus a cozy spot to simply slow down and browse. The goal is to foster a community space that is  “comfortable, curious, a little magical,” and we think fall in the midwest sounds like the perfect time to lean into that vibe.

3️⃣ The revitalized Boone Theater at 18th & Vine is opening its doors to KC’s entrepreneurs and makers this month. Starting Wednesday, September 9th, JuneteenthKC is partnering with the Boone Theater to host weekly vendor pop-ups, community activations and special activities inside the historic space. Patrons can enjoy this new pop-up series every Wednesday from 4 - 9 p.m. this fall, and small businesses can apply for a vendor spot by emailing [email protected]
