Today weβre talking about baby bald eagles, a local James Beard Award finalist, and development expansion in Parkville.Β
1οΈβ£The Blue Springs Eagle Cam shared an update at the end of March that parents Freedom and Liberty have two new baby eaglets! Livestream watchers can see the eaglets grow up now that theyβve hatched. Fish remains can be seen in the nest, so the parents have clearly been working hard taking care of their babies. If you want to vote on names for the eaglets, visit the City of Blue Springs Facebook page by Friday, April 10th.Β
2οΈβ£ Japanese izakaya Anjin, which opened in the Crossroads less than a year ago, is the only KC-based James Beard Award finalist for 2026! The 20-seat establishment is nominated for Best New Restaurant - one of the highest honors in the culinary world. Inspired by Japanβs lively izakaya culture, Anjin quickly become a favorite for its limited offering of creative dishes and intimate atmosphere.
3οΈβ£ Parkville will annex nearly 60 acres from unincorporated Platte County to expand the areaβs Creekside development, which already consists of nearly 300 acres. Creekside currently consists of residential, shopping, dining, and sports facilities, and this expansion would focus on adding patio homes, duplexes and triplexes.
