Today we’re talking about a popular Airbnb near KC, a Lawrence food pantry keeping fresh food from going to waste, and a unique new ice cream shop full of Indian-inspired flavors.

1️⃣Survey results for the most wishlisted Airbnb homes in all 50 states revealed that Kansas’ top contender is a cozy cabin just 40 minutes west of Kansas City in Tonganoxie. β€œCozy Cabin Retreat” in Tonganoxie is a guest favorite with a 4.96 out of 5-star rating, putting the home in the top 1% of eligible listings based on ratings, reviews and reliability! If you get a chance to get a reservation, we’d love to know if this cute little retreat lives up to the hype!

2️⃣ Tired of seeing perishable food go to waste, Lawrence-based food pantry Just Food made an unusual move: opening up its own kitchen to turn surplus food into prepared to-go meals. Most food pantry programs provide groceries to help those in need prepare their own meals, but faced with large amounts of perishable food the nonprofit found a novel solution. It’s called Chop Shop, a program where fresh, perishable food that would usually head to a landfill is turned into meals in a dedicated kitchen.Β

3️⃣ There are plenty of ice cream shops in Johnson County, but none quite like the Indian-inspired flavors of Washington-based chain Naturalz. At their new location off of 135th and Lamar, you will find rich and unique flavors like chikoo (a caramelly sweet fruit) and kesar pista (a blend of saffron and pistachio) sit in an ice cream case beside more common ones like cotton candy dream and butterscotch swirl. We can’t wait to try it!
