The happiest headlines in Kansas City are hot off the press! Today we’re talking about a delicious new collab between a local barbecue sauce company and a popular beer brand, another major alcoholic beverage player entering the THC drink scene, and better dental care for Kansans on Medicaid.

1. Rufus Teague & Garage Beer collaborate on a delicious new endeavor: A local barbecue sauce company has entered a delicious partnership with a popular beer brand connected to a pair of football-playing brothers, Jason and Travis Kelce. Shawnee-based Rufus Teague has introduced its new Beer-B-Q sauces, which contain Garage Beer as a main ingredient. The Classic Beer-B-Q sauce offers a sweet, smoky taste with “a beer-forward finish,” and the Amped-Up Beer-B-Q has a spicy kick, but both are made with 10% Garage Beer.

2. Boulevard Brewing enters the THC beverage scene: Boulevard’s popular Quirk Hard Seltzer line is the latest brand dipping a toe into the world of THC beverages with its new line, Quirk THC Seltzer. Berry Jane, a THC-infused seltzer made with real raspberry juice, is the first flavor to hit the shelves. It’s alcohol-free and will be offered in 5mg and 10mg options, Expect to see Berry Jane on shelves in Missouri and Kansas this November, and prepare for an extra-fun holiday season!

3. Kansas hopes to raise its poor dental health score with better access to care: For the first time in 25 years, Kansas legislators voted to raise the amount paid to dentists who work with Medicaid patients. State officials are hoping the increase will lure more dentists to the program, increasing the number of people able to receive proper dental care. For the fifth year in a row, the state earned a “C” grade on its statewide Oral Health Report Card, but hopefully we can raise that score with more accessible care.
