Today we’re talking about a baby’s birthday party redemption, a beautiful tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr., and the founder of Billie’s Grocery beginning a new pursuit. 

1️⃣ 𝐀 𝐨𝐧𝐞-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐨𝐥𝐝’𝐬 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. When a local mom shared that nobody came to her toddler’s first-birthday party, neighbors and strangers alike stepped in to give the little girl a celebration to remember — complete with balloons, face painting, and a whole lot of love. The heartwarming response has sparked a wave of positivity online and in KC neighborhoods.

2️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐋𝐊’𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥. A Kansas City elementary school honored Martin Luther King, Jr. yesterday by painting 31 colorful murals throughout the walls of the school. Community members joined together at Primitivo Garcia Elementary School on Tuesday to celebrate the civil rights activist with murals of his most famous quotes, beautiful embellishments, and even a portrait of MLK himself.

Opening in Corinth Square, Casa will blend Mexican, Mediterranean, and Asian influences with bold flavors and locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant replaces the former Salty Iguana, a spot Krause used to frequent and where her son had his first job. Casa brings fresh energy—and a full-circle moment—to the heart of Prairie Village.
