Today weβre talking about KCβs first Black-owned brewery expanding into restaurant territory, another milestone in womenβs sports courtesy of the KC Current, and a new social media series that might just make you famous from riding the streetcar.
1οΈβ£ Missouriβs first Black-owned brewery, located in the historic 18th & Vine District, just leveled up once again! A brand-new chicken kitchen called Vine Street Chicken Co., bringing fried chicken, gumbo, and sweet funnel-cake fries to lunch and dinner crowds is now open under the same roof as Vine Street Brewing Co. This vibrant addition fills a longtime restaurant vacancy and adds even more flavor to KCβs culinary scene.
2οΈβ£ The Kansas City Current officially opened its Riverside Stadium and Performance Center, a major $52 million investment in womenβs professional soccer infrastructure. The new 2,000-seat stadium will help develop local talent and be home to KC Current II, the Currentβs second team that helps bridge youth and college players to professional soccer. The performance facility will support player growth for years to come - an exciting milestone for womenβs sports right here in the metro.
3οΈβ£ KC Streetcar Takes is a new series on social media, run by a fleet of local creative talent, that embodies the spirit of viral social formats while showcasing what makes KC so special: its people. The interviewers ride the streetcar, strike up conversations, and capture the hot takes riders want to share. Episodes feature a mix of invited guest hosts, such as local business owners and community leaders, as well as impromptu conversations with everyday riders, with the goal of highlighting people in our community.
