1) De Soto Days Festival

Make a night of the carnival, then stick around for live music, fair food and the beer garden, with Saturday bringing the parade, classic car show and a full slate of family activities.

4) Kansas City Renaissance Festival - Opening Weekend

Watch full-contact jousting, meet costumed royalty and roaming characters, shop handmade goods from artisan booths and work your way through turkey legs, mead and other Renaissance fare.

5) Kansas City Music & Arts Festival

Bring a blanket and spend the afternoon moving between live bands, artist booths and handmade goods, with food and drinks available throughout the park.
