1๏ธโฃA historic downtown KC building is getting new life as a restaurant project after it was declared dangerous by the city.One of downtown KCโs oldest surviving buildings โ dating back to 1874 โ is officially being revived instead of demolished. Developers are transforming the historic former Seidenโs Furs building at 10th & Broadway into a new Midwestern restaurant called Loretta Jeanโs, complete with restored neon signage and vintage-inspired touches. Itโs a huge preservation win for Kansas City history and another exciting addition to the downtown food scene.
2๏ธโฃ Grandview unveils a $2.1 Million marketplace for farmers markets & community events on Main Street. Grandview is investing big in community gathering spaces with the upcoming opening of Grandview Station, a new year-round downtown marketplace. The project will give the cityโs farmers market a permanent home and expand it to twice-weekly events, while also creating space for festivals, watch parties, and neighborhood gatherings. Residents are already celebrating the project as another sign of downtown Grandviewโs growing momentum.ย
3๏ธโฃ Missouri State just hired an Olympic champion to their swimming program coaching staff. Missouri Stateโs swimming program just stacked its coaching staff with the hiring of decorated Olympian Ryan Lochte. The 12-time Olympic medalist will join the Bears later this summer as an assistant coach for the menโs and womenโs teams. Lochte will join a four-person staff headed by Dave Collins, who has amassed 12 MVC womenโs titles, four menโs titles and 13 conference coach of the year titles in his 14 years at the helm.
